Our Goal

Danatec by Yardstick Training believes in educating our learners on safety practices in a number of industries across the country.

Safety can often be overlooked in our everyday activities, such as driving, making it all the more important to remember safe and defensive principles designed to ensure your safety and the safety of others using roadways.

Danatec by Yardstick Training’s 6 hour, online Defensive Driving program is approved by the government of Alberta and is not only a comprehensive defensive driving program designed to increase road safety, but also serves as a 3-demerit reduction course within Alberta.

Why Learn Defensive Driving

If you work in an industry where driving is a part of your everyday job requirements, it is crucial you understand how to properly implement defensive driving practices.

Defensive driving will increase not only your safety, but the safety of others in your vehicle and others using the roadways.

Many employers require employees who will be using company vehicles to have taken a defensive driving course of some sort. In addition, employees who have taken a defensive driving program are often more hireable for other positions involving vehicle use.

The program will discuss:

  • A driver safety competency model
  • SAFER system of defensive driving
  • Driving in adverse conditions
  • Most common collision types
  • Other forms of collisions
  • Drinking, driving and drugs
  • Effects of fatigue on drivers
  • Distractions in the vehicle

After successful completion of the course a test will be administered to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% is required to qualify learners for a 3-demerit reduction from an Alberta operator’s license.
