Dear Danatec client,
Transport Canada has amended the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, primarily to update the marine provisions found throughout the regulations. Although the changes were published in December 2017, they have a six-month transition period and do not become mandatory until June 13, 2018.
Here’s a Transport Canada FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) summary, explaining the purpose and scope of the revisions: www.tc.gc.ca/eng/tdg/faq-amendments-marineprovisions-tdg-regulations-part-11.html. It includes a link to the actual amendments and the Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement (RIAS) published in the Canada Gazette.
If you have purchased a copy of Danatec’s TDG Act and Regulations, you may update your binder by downloading a PDF file, then printing and replacing the revised pages: Click Here.
Many of the revisions are minor, such as changing the word “ship” to “vessel”, but there are hundreds of small changes throughout the regulations, affecting more than one-third of the pages. You will need to check the copyright page of your binder to make sure you have the most recently updated version of the Regulations (© 2017, includes amendment SOR/2017-137, July 12, 2017), then follow the instructions to replace the pages that have been revised.
