ICAO Confirmation of Prohibition of Lithium Ion Batteries as Cargo on passenger Aircraft

The ICAO Council confirmed yesterday the recommendation of the Air Navigation Commission that prohibits, on an interim basis, lithium ion batteries, UN 3480 only, as cargo on passenger aircraft. This prohibition is effective 1 April 2016. A notice detailing the changes is attached.

ICAO will, within the next few days issue Addendum 4 to the 2015 – 2016 Technical Instructions. IATA will also issue an addendum to the 57th edition of the DGR at that time.
