Elevating Workplace Safety: Introducing Our New Fall Protection Training

Falls are one of the most significant causes of workplace incidents across the country. According to the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC), on a five-year average, over 49,540 workers get injured annually due to fall incidents. These incidents not only lead to personal and professional hardships but also represent a substantial portion of lost-time injuries reported to workers’ compensation boards. Preventing falls is critical, and one major key to prevention lies in proper training.

To address this urgent need, we’re proud to introduce our new Fall Protection training. Designed to meet the diverse needs of workers across Canada, this program combines essential knowledge, practical tools, and provincial customization to empower employees to work safely at heights. With over 30 years of experience as a trusted provider in safety training, we’re committed to reducing workplace falls and improving safety outcomes through high-quality education.

Why Fall Protection Training Matters

The numbers tell a sobering story: falls account for thousands of injuries each year, yet they are almost entirely preventable with the right precautions and training. Our Fall Protection training ensures learners gain a thorough understanding of critical fall protection systems, including travel restraint systems, fall arrest systems, and fall restricting systems.
Participants will also explore key concepts like:

  • Calculating fall clearances
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive fall protection plans tailored to their work environments
  • Recognizing and mitigating suspension trauma. Here’s a preview of course content covering the risk of suspension trauma:

This training offers workers the tools and confidence to protect themselves and their colleagues while working at heights.

What Sets Our Training Apart

Our Fall Protection training program is more than just another course—it’s a comprehensive solution tailored to the needs of workers and employers across Canada. Here’s what makes it exceptional:

1. Comprehensive Base Course

The core program covers foundational principles of fall protection, including:

  • Safe use of equipment and inspection techniques
  • Understanding the functionality of travel restraint, fall arrest, and other systems
  • Effective hazard assessment
  • Development of actionable rescue protection plans

This course is designed to serve workers across industries, ensuring accessibility and applicability for a wide range of job roles. While suitable for most sectors, certain jurisdictions, such as Ontario, require specific training for certain workers (e.g., MLITSD-approved Working at Heights training for construction).

2. Provincial Customization: Alberta and British Columbia Modules

To ensure workers meet local legislative requirements, we’ve developed two specialized versions of the course: one for Alberta and one for British Columbia. These versions include the same robust base program, plus an additional module detailing provincial regulations and best practices, informing workers how to be compliant with local laws.

3. Practical Competency Tools

Completing an eLearning program is just the beginning. To ensure workers can apply their training on the job, our program includes practical evaluation tools and assessment guides. These resources allow supervisors or other qualified personnel to evaluate and sign off on a worker’s competency, covering skills like equipment inspection and the proper use of fall protection systems.

Take the First Step Toward Safer Workplaces

With well over 40,000 workplace injuries in Canada each year attributed to falls, effective training is not optional—it’s essential. Our Fall Protection training program provides workers with the knowledge and tools to work safely at heights. Whether you’re in Alberta, British Columbia, or another province, this training offers everything you need to build a safer workplace.
